LEWISTON – Boys from Andy Valley Gymnastics performed well at the Maine State Championships held March 3 at Bath. The Level 7 team brought home the winning trophy in the team competition. The Level 5 entry placed third.

In Level 7 (ages 10-11), Paul Mason and Josh Abrams took first and second, respectively, in the All-Around. Mason also won pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar. He placed second on floor. Abrams placed first on floor and second on horse, rings, vault, bars and high bar.

In Level 7 (ages 12+), Dylan Tanguay and Max Soifer also grabbed first and second in All-Around, respectively. Tanguay placed first on rings, vault and high bar. He was second on horse and third on floor and bars. Soifer was first on horse and finished second on floor, rings, bars and high bar, and third on vault.

In Level 6, Pat Rojas placed 2nd in All-Around, floor, horse and rings, while placing third on vault, bars and high bar.

Donnovan Covert placed 8th in All-Around in Level 4, while finishing 5th on floor and 6th on rings.

In Level 5 (ages 7-9), Joey Bauman placed 7th in All-Around. He was 2nd on horse and 6th on high bar. Alec Fisher finished 8th in All-Around while taking 3rd on rings, 5th on floor and 6th on horse. Also part of the Level 5 team was Mathias Deming who finished 10th All-Around and 7th on floor.

Quinton Ray finished 4th in All-Around in Level 5 (ages 10-11). He was 4th in horse and rings. He won on floor, finished 2nd on vault and 3rd on high bar.

With their performances, Ray, Mason, Abrams, Tanguay and Soifer qualified to represent Maine in the New England Regional Championships scheduled for March 24-25 at M.I.T. in Boston.
