LEWISTON – The Bates College Republicans will host a conservative entertainer and entrepreneur at 7 p.m. tonight at Bates College.
Reginald Jones’ presentation, “Betrayal: Sold Out by the Civil Rights Movement,” will take place in Room 204 of Carnegie Science Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
“As a native of the South Bronx, New York, and as a 20-year veteran of the entertainment industry, Mr. Jones will provide a fresh and insightful perspective on the civil rights movement,” said Michael O’Gorman, second vice president of the Bates College Republicans.
Jones’ talk will focus on the struggle for civil rights and how the African-American community has been mistreated by public officials over the years, O’Gorman said.
After a landmark interview with Rush Limbaugh in 1997, Jones landed his own national show, “Grassroots Live.” In January 1998, he began hosting “Generation Now” on the Radio America Network.
