AARP to meet

LEWISTON – The Androscoggin Chapter 4077, AARP, will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, March 19, at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street. The board of directors will meet at 12:30 p.m.

Kathleen Kienitz, local elder law attorney, will speak on “Do I Need a Trust?” Kienitz will describe a trust, the basic parameters in setting up a trust and circumstances when it can be a useful estate planning tool as well as the inappropriate use of a trust.

Anyone age 50 or older is invited. There will be attendance and pot of gold drawings and refreshments will be served. If schools should be closed that day, there will be no meeting.

Theater meeting

AUBURN – Lewiston-Auburn Community Little Theatre will hold its semi-annual membership meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, March 19, at the Great Falls Performing Arts Center, 30 Academy St.

President Tim Pinkham will preside at the business meeting covering recent developments at the theater, financial outlook, committee reports and the future of the theater.

Anyone interested in joining the membership is invited to attend. Dues are $10 annually. New members and volunteers are welcome. There are opportunities to participate in theater life, onstage and backstage, including wardrobe, set construction, box office, play reading, props, musicians, publicity and working on special projects.

Lodge supper

AUBURN – Ashlar Lodge 105, AF and AM, will hold a “Family Supper Night” on Monday, March 19, at the Auburn Masonic Temple, 1021 Turner St. All family members and potential candidates are welcome to the 6 p.m. supper before the business meeting.

There will be hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken burgers with salads and desserts. The supper is free. Those who need a ride or more information should call Steve Peterson at 777-1728.

Meeting speaker

LEWISTON – Registered dietitian Diane Jones will be the guest speaker at the Monday, March 19, meeting of the Central and Western Maine ICD Support Group.

The support group is for individuals who have implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD). Family members and other support persons are also welcome.

The meeting will provide a forum for discussion regarding experiences with ICD and will present learning opportunities about living with the devices and cardiac health issues. Participants are asked to bring a written recipe of their favorite heart healthy dish.

The meeting will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Conference Room H, lower level of the 12 High Street Medical Office Building.

Church change

LEWISTON – Our Lady of Mount Carmel Mission traditional Catholic Mass is now being held at the CJ Hall, 711 Webster St. The Mass is held from 3 to 6 p.m. the second and last Sundays of every month. It is a traditional Latin Mass. For more information, call 786-4018.

Ostomy meeting

LEWISTON – The Androscoggin Ostomy Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at the Central Maine Medical Center, 300 Main St. The speaker will be Lee Flaherty from Pinetree Retirement Planning. The topic will be new Medicare plans. For more information, call Glenice at 224-7975.

LISBON – VFW Post 9459 and Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at the post home, Route 196. All members are encouraged to attend and new members are welcome. Parenting program

POLAND – “Parenting Teens – What’s It All About?” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at the Bruce M. Whittier Middle School. Advocates For Children staff will discuss adolescent development, communication tips to use with teens and community resources out there for parents. The free workshop will take place in Room C120.
