LEWISTON – Colon cancer is no laughing matter, but education on risk factors and prevention can be. “You’ll Laugh Your Bum Off,” an educational session sponsored by Club W! and Entrees to Health, is dedicated to the prospect that what people need to know can be fun to learn.

Dr. Michael Monzel, Central Maine Gastroenterology, will dispel some of the myths about the colonoscopy procedure and will discuss prevention and treatment of colon cancer. Participants will also play games to learn more about the colon and have a tour of the endoscopy department where the procedures take place.

Those age 50 or older or have a family history of colon cancer should have regular colonoscopies. The screenings are necessary, since there are no early symptoms for the disease.

The presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at the Lepage Conference Center, 99 Campus Ave. A healthy meal, with recipes from the American Cancer Society, will be served for $6.

Register and prepay at 753-5467 by Sunday, March 18. Send payment to Entrees to Health/Club 50, 100 Campus Ave., Suite 103, Lewiston, ME 04240.
