SUGARLOAF – Shea and Devin Flynn of Edward Little High School had a busy week recently on the freestyle skiing circuit.

Saturday night at Sugarloaf, both brothers competed in the Bud Light Rail Jam. The format for the contest was an “open jam”. Sixty skiers and snowboarders packed up the rail course for 2 hours and threw down as many tricks as possible. Endurance played a key role as judges were rewarding not only technical difficulty and variety, but sheer volume of hits. At the end of the evening, Devin (15) placed first in the Under-18 category and walked away with a brand new pair of skis. Shea (17) chose to compete above his age group and clinched the second place cash prize in the 18-Older classification.

Earlier in the week, the brothers teamed up with Joey Ciprari and Andrew Hathaway to represent “Fire On The Mountain Ski and Snowboard Shops” at Okemo’s “Shop Wars” competition at Okemo, Vt.

Fifteen ski and snowboard shop teams across New England went head to head in an open rail jam format. Temperatures during the day added an extra challenge, dipping down to -25 degrees wind chill factor. The FOM team placed third overall and finished first among skiers.
