AUBURN – The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society will hold its annual “Eat for Pete” event on Wednesday, March 21, with several area restaurants.

By eating at a designated “Eat for Pete” restaurant, diners can help Pete and the other homeless, abused and abandoned animals that make their way to the safety of the humane society each year.

The restaurants have pledged to donate 10 percent of their food sales to help the shelter care for the animals.

The following area restaurants will participate in “Eat for Pete” with lunch between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.: Dore’s Café and Market on Union Street and Rolly’s Diner on Mill Street, both in Auburn.

The following restaurants will offer dinner between the hours of 5 and 9 p.m.:

Lewiston: Davinci’s Eatery, Bates Mill; Espo’s Trattoria, Main Street; Fast Breaks, Lisbon Street; Governor’s Restaurant, Lisbon Street; Marco’s Restaurant, Mollison Way; and Subway Sandwiches, Main Street.

Auburn: Georgio’s Pizza and Donut Shop, Minot Avenue; Gipper’s Sports Grill, Center Street; Sam’s Italian Sandwich Shop, Center Street; and Subway Sandwiches, Center Street and Minot Avenue.

Turner: Youly’s Family Restaurant, Route 4. The Fore Season’s at Turner Highland Golf Course will celebrate “Eat for Pete” the following night.

The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society provides a haven for approximately 4,000 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area a year. Primary support comes from fundraising events and donations of residents.
