AUBURN – Ben Alpren (5) and Scott Thayer Auto (1) are set to collide Monday in the championship round of the Auburn Rec Men’s Slowdown Basketball League playoffs. Alpren is unbeaten. Once-beaten Thayer, the only loss to Alpren, needs 2 wins Monday to claim the title.

In playoff action this week, Thayer Auto eliminated Pike Industries (6) 60-52. Jim Davis led with 18 points, Justin Perron added 15. Jared Erskine paced Pike with 14. Jake St. Hilaire was next with 10.

BT Pallet (4) ousted Lewiston Pawn Shop (2) 70-52. Jon Wallingford poured in 30 points for the winners. Pat Dempsy added 16. Chris Baillargeon led Pawn Shop with 21. Jared Kuvaja added 18.

Ben Alpren nipped Brew Brew 51-50 in a battle of unbeatens. Chris Ranslow connected for the game-winner with 3 seconds left. Chris Williamson led with 21 points. Joe Harris (18) and Tim Mower (9) sparked the Crew.

Scott Thayer Auto stayed alive with a 69-64 win over BT Pallet. Jason Bray popped in 17 and Don Gayton 15. Wallingford led Pallet with 23 points. Mike Graham added 21.

Scott Thayer advanced to the finals with a 44-42 win over Brew Crew. Gayton led with 20 points. Jim Davis added 7. Jason Agren and Joe Harris each netted 8 for the Crew.

Auburn Women’s League

AUBURN – JC Concrete remained unbeaten this week in the Auburn Rec Women’s Slowdown Basketball League. Lynn Girouard tossed in 18 points to lead the Concreters to a 41-36 win over Young Ones. Ashley Swett added 9 points and Nicole Hutchinson 4. Amy Lemieux led Young Ones with 14 points. Adding support were Melissa Bilodeau (10) and Pauline Veinott (9).

In other action, Lady Ballers defeated Laskoff Bashers 34-27 as Annie Bolduc scored 10 and Stacy Hood 9. Cheyenne Mercier paced the Ballers with 11 points. Katie McKenzie added 7.

Old School beat the Lady Ballers 55-34. Katie Morrell led with 17 points. Betsy Sibley added 16 and Erin Davis 8. Jen Small scored 9 for the Ballers. Karen Desjardins added 6 and Jill Olson-Mills 4.
