Scotland Yard is sending four police officers to help Jamaican authorities investigate the death of Pakistan’s cricket coach after his team’s shocking loss in the World Cup in Kingston. Authorities say they are looking into whether international match-fixing was a motive in the March 18 killing. They declined comment on whether Pete Rose’s autograph session at a Kingston memorabilia show around the time of the murder raised their suspicions.

Blades of glory

A new hockey stick manufactured by Reebok is being credited with helping Detroit Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk go on a recent hot streak. The stick, dubbed the “O-Stick”, has seven holes in the shaft that are meant to reduce wind resistance and improve accuracy and durability. The Boston Bruins think they can go a step further and are testing a new stick with one big hole in the blade.

Not a smooth start

The first year women’s softball team at the College of Southern Idaho is causing a stir. A question in the player profiles in the team’s media guide asks “Shaven or Unshaven.” CSI athletic director Joel Bate said the query, one in a series of either/or questions, refers to the players’ preferences in men’s facial hair, and has been posed in the past for the media guides of other women’s and men’s teams.
