LEWISTON – The Lewiston Middle School Ice Dawgs varsity hockey team recently captured the Southern Maine Middle School Hockey League playoff championship for the second consecutive year. The Dawgs beat Greely 8-2 in the title tilt.

Connor Anthoine led a well-balanced attack with a hat trick and a couple of assists. Spencer Martin chipped in with 2 goals and 2 assists. Colt Steele, Ben Wigant and Sam Cloutier rounded out the goal scoring. Alex Parker, Steele, Cody Dussault and Dylan Rodrigue were all credited with assists.

Cam Poussard and Rich Belanger shared the goaltending duties. Also having a fine game were Scott Ouellette, Jesse Leeman, Ryan Lemelin, Brian Mathieu, Jon McDonough, Zack Parker and Michael Bouchard.

Brian Hart scored both goals for Greely. Tucker Geoffroy was the playmaker.

Earlier in the playoffs, the Dawgs beat Portland 6-1 and North Yarmouth Academy 7-3. The Ice Dawgs finished with a 19-0 record while scoring 145 goals and allowing only 24.

The team was coached by Vic Mathieu, Steve Rodrigue and Bob Parker.
