Elm Street school boys, seventh-eighth graders started their pitching and catching try outs in the school gymnasium Monday, March 26. Former girls varsity basketball, Coach Piirainen, is now taking role of baseball coach. The few boys who show up to try-outs work on throwing, catching, and most important conditioning, which is hard. All the young men who try out dedicate a huge part of their days to improving their baseball skills. They deserve a lot of credit.

The try outs are no easy thing. They consist of a lot of running. Things one would think would be easy, turns out to show players how out of shape they are. Coach Piirainen dedicates a lot of his time teaching the players how to pitch, and swing a bat like pros. Which may take a while, but there’s a lot left in the season! Wildcats will be prepared as they enter the 2007 baseball season.
