On April 12, the Sun Journal published a letter authored by William LaRochelle of Lewiston, titled “Obvious heretic,” in which a statetment attributed to the late Pope John Paul II, from his Message to the Peoples of Asia in 1981, was misparaphrased.

The pope’s exact words were: “In the Holy Spirit each person and each people have become, by the cross and resurrection of Christ, children of God, participating in the divine nature, and heirs of everlasting life.”
