OXFORD – SAD 17 directors unanimously approved a Hebron Station School sixth-grade class trip to Montreal next month.

The vote was made Monday night after a monthlong behind-the-scenes disagreement among some parents over the trip destination.

It took a meeting between Superintendent Mark Eastman and parents to resolve the issue.

Parents of four children appeared at the SAD 17 board meeting on April 2 to voice concerns about a disagreement between themselves and the children’s teacher over plans to take the class to Mystic, Conn., instead of Canada, after one child was unabl e to get parental permission to cross the international border.

When final arrangements were being made for the trip to Connecticut, parent Richard Feely said the teacher sent home a message saying the Canada trip was back on.

Eastman said two weeks ago that permission slips and information about border-crossing requirements were sent home with the students and a final decision would be made based on the number returned.

said the majority of the students will attend the trip.
