GARDINER – Megan Richards had a strong performance on the mound, leading Mt. Blue to a 6-5 triumph in eight innings over Gardiner.

Richard also smacked a two-run double, while teammates Natasha Howard and Ashley Goucher each hit doubles for Mt. Blue.

Gardiner was paced by Ashley Abbot with a two-run double and Alecia Griffon with an RBI single. Jasmine Trott had six strikeouts in the loss.

Telstar 2, Monmouth 1

BETHEL – Josie Reiss scored the eventual game-winner on a passed ball in the first inning to lift Telstar to a 2-1 victory over Monmouth in MVC softball action Wednesday.

Julia Stambolis was hit by a pitch in the first, stole second and then scored on a bounced ball to tie the game before Reiss circled the bases for the Rebels (2-0). Candace Hall settled in after allowing the Mustangs (1-1) a run in the first, firing a one-hitter and fanning 10.

Monmouth pitcher Brittany Hilton struck out eight in a strong performance.

Cony 5, Leavitt 3

TURNER – Cony banked three unearned runs in the sixth inning to steal a 5-3 victory over Leavitt in KVAC action Wednesday.

Leavitt had 10 hits off Cony pitcher Alison Cheever, but five errors hurt the Hornets’ chances.

The Hornets (1-1) were paced by Amy Chiasson and Brittany Gurney with two hits and one RBI each. Megan Miller also contributed with a pair of hits. Gurney handled pitching duties, allowing four hits.

Morse 9, Lewiston 1

LEWISTON – Hannah Miller hit a two-run triple to lead the Morse offense, as the Shipbuilders rolled to a 9-1 victory over Lewiston in a softball match-up held Wednesday.

Megan Hennessey hit a two-run double for Morse (1-1).

Lewiston (0-1) got on the board first, scoring on a wild pitch after loading the bases in the second inning. Morse tied the game in the fifth and broke the contest open in the sixth with five runs. Hennessey notched the win on the mound, while Danielle Willey took the loss.

Fryeburg 12, Freeport 0

FRYEBURG – Cerise Humphrey went 3-for-4 and had three RBIs to lead Fryeburg to a 12-0 rout over Freeport in a WMC softball matchup.

Hannah Hill chipped in for the Raiders (2-0) with two hits and one RBI, while Dani Hill belted a two-run triple.

Hannah Hill also picked up the mound win, allowing one Freeport hit.

Hannah Toothaker was credited with the loss.

Jay 14, Winthrop 10

JAY – Freshman pitching duo Daydra Loon and Alexii Smith combined to lead Jay to a 14-10 victory over Winthrop.

Loon pitched the first five innings, before Smith came in for the Tigers’ save. At the plate, Kaylie Demillo hit an RBI triple and an RBI double. Kristen Adams smacked a two-run triple, and Liz LeBlanc added two runs off a double for Jay (1-1).

Repeat hitters for Winthrop included Emiy Rickerson and Johanna Palleschi.

Madison 15, Livermore Falls 2

LIVERMORE FALLS – Ashley Marandola threw hard and fast to lead Madison to a 15-2 triumph over Livermore Falls in MVC action Wednesday.

Marandola ended the contest with five strikeouts and two walks to record the win. Amanda Poissionner scored a two-run double in the fourth, while Jess Romano chipped in with an RBI double in the sixth.

Freshman Kathrynn Lake and Jenny Freeman got the only hits of the game for the Andies (0-2). Center fielder Brittany Souther had a solid performance on defense.

Oxford Hills 10, EL 0

AUBURN – Jenn Jurczak had an unshakeable performance on the mound, striking out 17 batters en route to a no-hitter as Oxford Hills topped Edward Little 10-0 Wednesday afternoon.

At the plate, Megan Gauger hit an RBI triple in the second for the Vikings (2-1). Repeat hitters included Gauger with two, while Mindy Rugg, Jenn Schennor, and Tia Pratt each hit two as well.

Alyssa Levesque, who struck out five, took the loss for the Eddies (0-1).

Mt. Abram 12, Carrabec 0

ANSON – Logahn Walker tossed a no hitter as Mt. Abram cruised past Carrabec 12-0.

Mt. Abram scored three runs in the first and put the game away with five more in the second.

Walker struck out six. Jillian Withee added a triple for the Roadrunners.

Poland 1, Yarmouth 0

YARMOUTH – Kristen Simpson tossed a one-hit shutout as Poland edged Yarmouth on a lucky break to win 1-0 in eight innings Wednesday afternoon.

Nicole Chinnock scored on a wild pitch from Yarmouths’ Abby Clayton to record the lone run of the game. Chinnock and Kathryn Hall were solid in the outfield, making a key play to preserve the 1-0 Knight (1-2) win. Hall hit a double, while Kaci Rae Ford had two hits for Poland.

Sam Gray led Yarmouth with a double.

Oak Hill 7, Rockland 2

ROCKLAND – Cadie Rodrigue and Angie Russell had three hits apiece to lead Oak Hill to a 7-2 triumph over Rockland.

Rodrigue and Brittany Wood, who had two hits, both had two-run doubles for the Raiders (3-0). Russell won her third start, scattering three hits and striking out seven. Kelly Smith struck out six in the loss.

Hebron 10, Exeter 1

HEBRON – Sarah Irish tossed a two-hitter, while Tiffany Bichrest and Kailey Bubier belted home runs to lead Hebron to a 10-1 win over Exeter.

Bichrest started the onslaught with a three-run homer in the first.

Bubier added two home runs, while Katherine Cole had double.
