LEWISTON – Players from all over the northeast will be converging on Lewiston’s Memorial Armory on Saturday, May 5 for the Maine Spring Table Tennis Open. The event is sponsored by “Stiga” and Table Tennis Pioneers from Canada. The USATT-sanctioned tourney is open to any and all players.

Entries have already been received from Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, as well as Maine. Registration ends at 10 p.m., Thursday, May 3.

Players are urged to wear dark shirts and shorts, tennis shoes or sneakers. No drinks or gym bags will be allowed on the gym playing surface where there will be 11 Stiga tables and 3-Star 40mm. Orange balls will be supplied.

A total of 11 competitions are scheduled for play, with over $700 in prize money on the line as well as trophies. It’s a “2” Star tourney and will consist of round robin events in most part, with groups of 3 to 5 players. Top 2 players will advance to single-elimination play

The event begins at 10 a.m. and runs all day. The public is invited at no cost.
