I’ve been going to the Lewiston Maineiacs games. We all want our team to win, but at recent home games I’ve been appalled. Not at the opposite team, but at the hometown fans. I’ve watched girls pound on the glass and yell at the players, choke a rubber chicken and, when the other team scored a goal, they would stand yelling at the glass toward the team.

I’ve also seen grown men go up to the glass, swearing and using inappropriate gestures at the players.

What’s with those people? The players are youngsters from 15 to 20 years of age.

I enjoy the games very much and also want my team to win.

Let’s have some pride and dignity in our community.

So much for setting a good example. Shame on those people.
