BATH – Oxford Hills pitcher Jen Jurczak struck out 12 batters and allowed only three walks and hits, providing the Vikings with a 2-0 softball victory over the Morse Shipbuilders on Friday.

The Vikings (5-1) took a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning when Teira Durgin tapped an RBI single, scoring Jen Schnor from third base.

In the first inning, Schnor’s sacrifice bunt scored Tia Pratt to give Oxfords Hills a 1-0 lead. Diann Ramsey was the only repeat hitter for the Vikings with two hits. Hannah Miller belted all three hits for Morse.

Mt. Blue 3, EL 1

FARMINGTON – Mt. Blue used timely hitting and took advantage of Edward Little miscues to down the Red Eddies 3-1 in girls’ KVAC softball action Friday.

Ashley Goucher drove in the first run for the Cougars (4-2) with an RBI double in the fifth inning that tied the score. Caitlyn Richard would score the eventual game-winning run in the sixth on a fielder’s choice.

April Mullen, Megan Richard, and Amelia Allen each had a pair of singles in the victory. Richard earned the win on the mound while Alyssa Levesque took the loss for Edward Little (0-6).

Telstar 5, Madison 3

MADISON – Candace Hall struck out nine batters, and the offense got a pair of runs in the first and fourth innings as Telstar edged Madison 5-3 in a MVC softball clash.

Julia Stambolis connected on a two-run double in the first to put the Rebels (5-0) on the board. After allowing runners to score on a walk and wild pitch in the fourth, Madison responded with three runs in the bottom half that with a trio of RBI singles.

Josie Reese and Whitney Mills each led Telstar with a pair of singles. Ashley Marandoln took the loss for Madison (5-2) while collecting a double and a single.

Jay 4, Hall-Dale 1

JAY – Senior shortstop Kaylie DeMillo went 2-for-2 with a double and triple to lead Jay to a 4-1 victory over Hall-Dale in MVC softball action Friday.

The Tigers (5-1) picked away at Hall-Dale by scoring in the first, third and fifth innings. Junior designated hitter Tasha Hebert had a pair of hits and two RBIs, including a double.

Jay freshman pitcher Alexii Smith struck out four and made five putouts for the complete game win, while Jacelyn Tripp absorbed the hard-luck loss for the Bulldogs (2-5) despite striking out six and walking no one.

Georges Valley 6, Dirigo 3

THOMASTON – Ashley Geel smacked a two-run double in the fourth inning, and Danielle Frye won her fifth game of the year as Georges Valley slipped past Dirigo 6-3 in MVC softball action.

Frye struck out seven batters and surrendered only a pair of Dirigo hits in the victory for Georges Valley (6-1). Abbey Fenstermacher had an RBI triple for Dirigo (2-3).

Wiscasset 10, Mountain Valley 9

RUMFORD – Catcher Lauren Etter had a pair of singles, including one in the top half of the eighth inning that plated the go-ahead run, as Wiscasset slipped by Mountain Valley 10-9 in a MVC softball clash.

Mountain Valley scored five times in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the score at nine, eventually sending the game to extra innings. Mountain Valley loaded the bases in the bottom half of the eighth but failed to get the tying run across. Michelle Miete got the complete game victory for the Wiscasset. Shawnee Akers added a double for Mountain Valley.

Leavitt 6, Mt. Ararat 1

TURNER – Aime Chiasson hit a two-out, two-run double to highlight a four-run fourth inning to lead Leavitt to a 6-1 victory.

Megan Miller added a double and two RBIs for Leavitt (3-2), while Brittaney Gurney scattered five hits for the win. Samantha Owens had three hits for the Eagles (0-7).

Lewiston 18, Gardiner 4

GARDINER – Danielle Willey tossed a two-hitter and struck out six to lead Lewiston to an 18-4 victory over Gardiner.

Patricia Defosse hit a two-run double in the first inning to start the onslaught for the Devils (3-3). Carley Denis and Willey each had two hits. Hannah Lawrence had a double for Gardiner (2-3).

Fryeburg 4, Poland 1

POLAND – Fryeburg took advantage of five Poland errors to score three unearned runs en route to a 4-1 victory.

Hannah Hill’s RBI single in the fifth scored the lone earned run. Kristen Simpson scored Poland’s lone run on a walk, stolen base and an RBI single by Kaci Ford.

Hill struck out nine batters for Fryeburg, while Simpson lost despite tossing a three-hitter.

Lisbon 22, Livermore Falls 9

LIVERMORE FALLS – Christy McAuliffe belted a two-run home run among her three hits and five RBIs to power Lisbon to a 22-9 victory over Livermore Falls. The Greyhounds (5-1) put the game away with seven runs in the second inning and 11 more in the third. Emily Moore added two doubles and a single, while Sam Purcell had three singles. Katherine Lake led the Andies with three hits.

Medomak 4, Oak Hill 3

WALDOBORO – Missy Kent and Sam Olsen hit triples in the second inning to lift Medomak Valley to a 4-3 triumph over Oak Hill.

The Panthers (6-1) scored all four runs in the second inning and held on as Oak Hill scored three in the fifth, led by Sarah Albert’s two-run double. Cadie Russell also hit a double in the fifth for Oak Hill (4-3).

Monmouth 6, Mt. Abram 0

MONMOUTH – Brittney Hilton fired a two-hitter and fanned 10 to lead Monmouth to a 6-0 victory over Mt. Abram.

Jen Lola had three hits, including a home run and double, and drove in four runs for the Mustangs. Alyssa Morin added a single and double. Losing pitcher Loghan Walker struck out seven.
