DIXFIELD – Pitcher Candace Hall scattered nine hits and struck out six as Telstar cruised to a 7-5 win over Dirigo in MVC softball action on Saturday.

The Rebels (6-0) scored three times in the fourth inning on a pair of Dirigo errors, and a two-run single by Abby Hutchins.

The Cougars (2-4) rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning, but came out just a bit short. They scored five times and had the tying run at the plate before Hall was able to get Dani Thompkins to line out to third, ending the game.

Fryeburg 2, Cape Elizabeth 0

FRYEBURG – Behind stong pitching and defense, Fryeburg Academy downed previously unbeaten Cape Eilizbeth 2-0.

Hanna Hill spun the shutout while only surrendering a pair of singles. Danni Hill led off the fifth inning with a triple and scored the game’s first run on a single by Jacqui Bell. Bell would later score on a Jordan Pandora base hit to give Fryeburg an insurance run.

Brunswick 8, EL 0

AUBURN – Brunswick capitalized on eight Edward Little errors by scoring eight unearned runs while cruising to a 8-0 victory.

Brunswick would score the only run they would need on a second inning unearned run by McKell Barnes.

The Dragons (7-0) later added three runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh. Haley Clark and Jess Russell paced Brunswick with a pair of singles. Alyssa Levesque and Lauren Brown each contributed with singles for the Red Eddies (0-7).

Hebron 9, Kents Hill 8

HEBRON – Tiffany Bichrest belted a pair of home runs, including a walk-off homer, to down Kents Hill 9-8 in MAISAD softball action.

Hebron exploded for seven runs in the second inning, building an 8-3 lead.

Girls’ lacrosse
Messalonskee 15, Mountain Valley 5

RUMFORD – Beth Ridley scored four of the first five goals to propel Messalonskee to a 15-5 victory over Mountain Valley.

The Eagles (3-1) jumped out to a fast start, taking a 10-2 lead into intermission. Monika Paurklova contributed to the strong offense, adding three tallies in the win.

The Falcons (0-6) were paced by Brittany Coulombe, who had a hat trick.

Hebron 10, Gould 6

HEBRON – Alysia Goldman made 23 saves and K.J. Forand added three goals and a pair of assists as Hebron Academy edged Gould Academy 10-9.

Forland scored Hebron’s final two goals to seal the victory. Shelley Bolduc also put in three goals while Taylor Fey added a goal and two assists. Hillary Reis and Barrett Allen each tallied a pair of goals in the loss.

Dirigo 11, Telstar 1

DIXFIELD – Aaron Fenstermacher tossed a four-hitter and struck out five as Dirigo rolled to a 11-1 victory over Telstar.

Fenstermacher also led the offense with three hits, including a two-run, bases-loaded single to highlight a five-run outburst in the fourth inning. Jon Smith, who also had three hits, added an RBI triple in the inning. Levi Hutchins and Spencer Berry each had a double and single for the Cougars (4-2).

Lacrosse
Hebron 21, Gould 2

HEBRON – Hebron Academy jumped out to a 13-1 lead by the half and sailed to a 21-2 drudging of Gould Academy.

Bobby Thoits scoredfive times for Hebron (8-0) and Roman Gosney added three.
