WALES – Josh Jillson fired a three-hitter and struck out 14, and Oak Hill turned five hits into five runs in the fifth inning to surge past Winslow 7-2 in a key Class B baseball game Monday.

Jillson and Winslow pitcher Steve Siviski were in the midst of a 2-2 pitcher’s duel before the Raiders (4-4) erupted. Brandon Plourde had a two-run single, while Dustin Dubuc and Ben Rines added RBI singles in the pivotal fifth inning. Brett Turcotte added a two-run double in the second inning.

In his last three starts, Jillson has fanned 15, 16 and 14 batters, respectively.

Ben Grant ripped a triple for Winslow (6-2).

Buckfield 10, Rangeley 2

BUCKFIELD – Dan Danforth fanned nine and scattered seven hits to lead Buckfield to a 10-2 triumph over Rangeley on Monday.

Buckfield scored five times in the third inning to erase a 1-0 deficit and take the lead for good. Jamie Henderson sealed the victory with a three-run homer in the sixth.

Dylan Emery had two singles for the Bucks (4-1). Ben Bliss led Rangeley with three hits.

Cape Elizabeth 3, Poland 2

POLAND – Cape Elizabeth scored three unearned runs and foiled a Poland rally with a game-ending double play with the tying and winning runs on base to escape with a 3-2 victory.

Pat Murphy paced Cape Elizabeth with three singles and an RBI. Ryan Boyington went the distance earning the victory.

Nick Douglass took the loss for Poland (6-1), it’s first of the season.

Dirigo 7, Boothbay 6

DIXFIELD – Jon Smith stole home on a pitchout to cap a four-run rally as Dirigo edged Boothbay 7-6 in an MVC baseball clash.

After tying the score on a bunt single, the Cougars (5-2) attempted a suicide squeeze when Boothbay pitched out, allowing Smith to cross the plate safely for the victory.

Smith finished the game with three hits and an RBI, swiping five bases. Smith also earned the win on the mound, getting the final out in the sixth with runners on.

Roy Arsenault belted a double and a home run for Boothbay (0-6).

Brunswick 9, EL 5

AUBURN – Brunswick scored three times in the fifth and sixth innings to pull away from a pesky Edward Little team for a 9-5 victory.

Dave Longley struck out eight batters, scattering six hits to earn his third victory of the season. EL’s eight errors allowed Brunswick to score six unearned runs.

Dylan Chandler paced the Dragons (6-1) with four singles and a pair of RBIs. Pat Roberts also added three hits.

Matt Meserve had two hits, while Adam Lutz contributed with a three-run triple for the Red Eddies (1-6).

Oxford Hills 12, Leavitt 3

SOUTH PARIS – Junior shortstop Ryan Yates recorded three hits and three RBIs as Oxford Hills coasted to a 12-3 victory over Leavitt in KVAC baseball action Monday.

Nick Letourneau drew first blood for the Hornets (2-5) with an RBI single in the first inning.

With Leavitt up 3-0 after two and a half innings, the undefeated Vikings (8-0) pulled it together by scoring three runs in the bottom of the frame and another eight in the fourth. Senior first baseman Ben Goodall assisted in the winning effort with a pair of hits and three RBIs.

Liv. Falls 5, Hall-Dale 2

FARMINGDALE – Junior pitcher Kevin Gats fanned nine batters for a complete game win as Livermore Falls took a 5-2 triumph over Hall-Dale.

Sophomore designated hitter Josh Tainter collected a pair of hits and two RBIs for the Andies (5-1).

Tyler Cummings had a pair of hits in the leadoff position for the Bulldogs.

Jay 15, Carrabec 2

NORTH ANSON – Jay pounded out 19 hits as the Tigers smoldered Carrabec 15-2 in an MVC matchup.

James Turner, Zane Armandi and Mike Holland each had three singles for the Tigers (5-2). Nick Bourassa and Shane Lefebvre each had a double and single.

Ben Hebert and Matt Schmidt also contributed with a pair of singles.

Austin Clark earned the win on the mound, combining with Hebert, James McLamb and Armandi to hold the Cobras (0-7) to two hits.

Mtn. Valley 18, Mt. Abram 8

FARMINGTON – Mountain Valley erupted for seven runs in the seventh inning and remained unbeaten with an 18-8 victory over Mt. Abram.

Justin Staires and Corey Devoe each tallied four hits for the Falcons (7-0), while Matt Lyons, Cody McPherson and Matt Laubaskas combined for seven.

Dylan Tisor had three hits and Nate Smith added two for the Roadrunners (2-5).

St. Dom’s 4, Traip 3

AUBURN – Jacob Rutt struck out seven and allowed three hits as St. Dom’s edged Traip 4-3.

The Saints scored three runs in the fourth on the strength of RBI singles by Peter Lewis and Shane Curtis. Lewis knocked in three of the Saints four runs and pitched a flawless seventh inning, striking out two.

Willy Emerson added a pair of hits for the Saints, who remain perfect at 4-0 on the season. Aaron Hill led Traip (3-3) with a double.

Winthrop 16, Monmouth 9

WINTHROP – Winthrop used a 15-hit attack, scoring eight runs in the final three innings to upend Monmouth 16-9.

After four lead changes, Winthrop scored three runs in the fifth to take the lead for good. Rusty Schmelzer led the attack with three hits, including a double and a home run. Catcher Jordan Conant chipped in with three hits, including a double and a triple.

Junior Dave Ricker came on in relief to pitch the final 4 2/3 innings to nail down the victory for the Ramblers (6-0). Ricker also contributed three singles.

Erik Smith ripped a double for the Mustangs (3-4) in the loss.

Lacrosse

Mtn. Valley 6, Wiscasset 1

RUMFORD – The Falcons were consistent on offense as Mountain Valley soared to a 6-1 triumph over Wiscasset.

Senior midfielder Nick Pingree and senior attack wing Craig Hamann scored a pair of goals each for the Falcons (2-5).

Nick McLeod was the most prolific player on offense for the Redskins (0-6) with four shots on goal in the losing effort.

Oak Hill 14, Morse 6

WALES – Kevin Laplante scored five goals and Joey Gilbert added three as Oak Hill remained unbeaten with a 14-6 victory over Morse.

After Gilbert and Morse’ Pat Wolfe swapped goals in the first period, Oak Hill scored eight goals in the second period to take control.

Nick Brown and Tyler Pomerleau added two goals apiece for the Raiders (0-6).

Dan Fontaine had three saves for Oak Hill, while Jesse Cassidy made 12 stops for Morse.

Waynflete 9, St. Dom’s 5

AUBURN – Waynflete opened a 5-0 advantage in the first half and hung on for a 9-5 victory.

Jake Copolla scored three goals, while Ned Donovan and Harper Sibley added two apiece for the Flyers (2-2). Cam McKee led St. Dom’s (0-4) with three goals, while Aaron Manson and Ben Adams rounded out the scoring.

Trevar Haefele made 14 saves for the Saints.
