JAY – Jay pounded out 11 hits and got a solid pitching performance from Daydra Loon while defeating Livermore Falls 9-2.

Loon surrendered only two hits while striking out five. Kaylie DiMillo, Desiree Castonguay, Kristen Adams, Betsy Gemelli and Tasha Hebert each had a pair of hits for the Tigers (8-1). Hebert and Zena Armandi each had doubles for Jay. Jenny Freeman and Jayde Purington each had singles for the Andies (1-7) in the loss.

Mt. Blue 1, Brunswick 0

FARMINGTON – Megan Richard surrendered only two hits, walking none, shutting down Brunswick hitters as Mt. Blue edged the Tigers 1-0.

Caitlin Richard led off the fourth inning and would later score on a throwing error giving the Cougars (7-2) the only run they would need, handing the Dragons (9-1) their first loss of the season. Jess Timmreck struck out six giving up only four hits in the loss.

Oxford Hills 4, Lewiston 2

LEWISTON – Mindy Rugg hit a three-run single with two outs in the third inning to lift Oxford Hills to a 4-2 victory over Lewiston.

After Emmylou Blake singled to lead off the third, a hit-batsman and walk loaded the bases for Rugg. The fourth run scored on a wild pitch. Danielle Willey and Sam Morency scored for Lewiston on Katie Cobb’s two-run double.

Willey fired a four-hitter for the Devils (4-6), striking out nine. Sam Dolloff had five strikeouts for the Vikings (9-1).

Hall-Dale 2, Monmouth 0

MONMOUTH – Jocelyn Tripp fanned seven batters giving up only a pair of singles as Hall-Dale shut out Monmouth 2-0.

Tripp and Jess Stevens each drove in a run for the Bulldogs (5-6). Lindsey Nyitry, Lindsay LaChance, Brittany Ladner each doubled in the victory. Jessica Gray took the tough loss for the Mustangs (4-4), allowing only four hits while striking out four.

Maranacook 2, MCI 0

PITTSFIELD – Anne Marie Marble tossed a four-hit shutout as Maranacook notched a 2-0 victory over Maine Central Institute.

The Black Bears (6-4) scored in the seventh inning, getting four of their six hits in the late frame.

The Huskies (6-4) suffered a crucial coaching error in the third inning. Thinking there were two outs, Amanda Hamilton was sent home from third base on a long fly ball to right field, but was quickly doubled off third base.

Belfast 6, Oak Hill 4

WALES – Belfast scored five runs in the sixth inning to erase a 4-1 deficit and defeat Oak Hill 6-4.

Stephanie Whittier earned the win while going 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the third inning for Belfast (6-3). Deidra Dubuc paced the Raiders (4-6) with a pair of singles and Sarah Albert added an RBI single.

Girls’ lacrosse

Mt. Ararat 17, Oxford Hills 4

SOUTH PARIS – Eight different scorers hit the back of the net as unbeaten Mt. Ararat cruised to a 17-4 victory over Oxford Hills.

Rachel Bernier led all scorers with five goals. Rachel Coolidge and Danielle Plourde scored four and three goals, respectively. Meredith Viera tallied a pair of goals while Kelsey McLaren and Brooke Mason eached scored for Oxford Hills (1-4) in the loss.

Edward Little 16, Lincoln Academy 15

AUBURN – Freshman center Kirsten Prue had an outstanding performance, with eight goals, to lift Edward Little to a 16-15 triumph over Lincoln Academy.

The Red Eddies (2-4) found themselves in a high-scoring but exhaustingly close battle, leading by only one at the half. Sophomore wing Karen Leary contributed three goals.

Midfielder Carly Williams led the scoring effort for the Eagles with six tallies.
