NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Tufts scored five unearned runs in the top of the ninth, breaking a six all tie and ending Bowdoin’s season with a 11-6 victory in an elmination game of the NESCAC tournament Saturday.

Bowdoin tied the score in the bottom of the eighth with a home run from senior Jon Koperniak before its ninth-inning fall. Koperniak also added a double and scored three runs. Joe Pace had a pair of doubles in the loss. Kevin Casey led Tufts with four hits while driving in a pair. Jordan Goldberg hurled 5 1/3 innings of relief to earn the victory.

The Polar Bears (18-16) got a strong pitching performance from Carter Butland in relief while Tyler Turgeon took the loss despite giving up no earned runs.

Hartford 7, Maine 2

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Shortstop Brady Stouffer roped a pair of doubles to lead the University of Hartford to a 7-2 victory over the University of Maine in men’s baseball action Saturday.

Hartford (20-23) scored all seven of its runs in the middle three frames with three in each of the fourth and sixth innings. Pitcher Weston Szymanski fanned nine, while scattering seven Maine hits over nine innings for the complete game win.

The Black Bears (13-30) rallied for a pair of runs in the top of the ninth, but found themselves too far down to overcome the deficit. Third baseman Curt Smith and first baseman Joel Barrett collected a double each in the losing effort.
