Regular season: 50-14-2-4, first in the QMJHL’s Eastern Conference, first overall in the league.

Playoffs: first round def. Shawinigan Cataractes (25-39-2-4 regular season) 4-0, second round def. Halifax Mooseheads (32-31-3-4) 4-1, semifinal defeated Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (36-27-3-4) 4-0 and QMJHL final defeted Val-d’Or Foreurs (41-23-4-2) 4-0.

Head coach and general manager: Clement Jodoin (third season); Assistant coach and assistant general manager: Ed Harding (fourth season); Assistant coach: Jeff Guay (fourth season).

Playoff performers: Jonathan Bernier (G) – 16 wins and just one loss in 17 games, 2.34 GAA, .919 save %; David Perron (F) – 12 G, 16 A in 17 games, 4 GWG, led the team in scoring; Pierre-Luc Faubert (F) – 12 G, 15 A in 17 games; Chad Denny (D) – 10 G, 9 A in 17 games, led the team in hits.

In net: Bernier has made his mark already in Lewiston at just 18-years-old. Bernier spent much of the second half of the season injured, but the rest has done him well. Bernier posted a 26-10 record with a 2.58 GAA. Backup Peter Delmas is the big reason the Maineiacs are where they are. Filling in for an injured Bernier, the 16-year-old went 23-10 on the season, including 15-5 in 20 games with Bernier on the shelf.

Unsung heroes: D Marc-Andre Crete, one of the team’s safest players. F Marc-Andre Daneau, who is a sparkplug on offense and a fantastic grinder.

Draftees: Bernier, Los Angeles Kings 2006 (first round, 11th overall); Stefan Chaput, Carolina Hurricanes 2006 (fifth round, 153rd overall); Cliche, New York Rangers 2005 (second round, 56th overall); Denny, Atlanta Thrashers 2005 (second round, 49th overall).

Just notes: The Maineiacs’ roster contains the organization’s first three draft picks (Cliche, Denny, Faubert) from its inaugural 2003-04 season.

Memorial Cup History: The Maineiacs are the first American-based team to represent the QMJHL at the Memorial Cup, and are making their first trip. Simon Courcelles is making his second trip in two seasons, and won last year with Quebec.
