RUMFORD – Justin Staires belted his eighth home run of the year, while knocking in five runs, as Mountain Valley cruised to a 14-0 triumph over Boothbay in an MVC baseball tilt.

The Falcons (13-1) jumped out by scoring 10 runs in the first inning. Staires also collected a double and a single to lead the 13-hit attack. Cody McPherson and Matt Laubauskas each had a pair of singles.

Laubauskas earned his fifth win of the season on the mound.

Mt. Ararat 8, Lewiston 7

TOPSHAM – Shortstop Bob Van Note scored the game-winning run for the Eagles as Mt. Ararat squeaked past Lewiston for an 8-7 victory.

The Blue Devils (8-7) rallied for six runs in the fifth inning to take a promising 7-3 lead. Sophomore Robbie Leeman went 3-for-3 in the game, while senior first baseman Ryan Dube collected a pair of RBIs for Lewiston.

The Blue Devil lead began to dim in the fifth, before Mt. Ararat took the lead in the sixth as the result of untimely errors and an abundance of walks. The Eagles (7-8) scored five runs in the two-inning span.

Camden Hills 5, Oak Hill 2

WALES – Camden Hills scored four unearned runs in the third inning en route to a 5-2 victory over Oak Hill.

The Raiders scored single runs in the sixth and seventh, but could come no closer as they left two runners on base in the final frame.

Noah Burke earned the win on the mound and added a triple for the Windjammers (13-2). Ethan Guerette led the Raiders (8-7) with a pair of hits while Josh Jillson took the loss.

Mt. Blue 6, Morse 4

FARMINGTON – Mt. Blue belted a pair of doubles and triples, while the pitching and defense held off a late Morse rally to earn a 6-4 victory.

Justin Lowe led off the fifth inning with a single and scored on a triple by Bobby Duley to break a 1-1 tie. Lowe added a two-run triple in the fifth to seal the victory.

Curtis Steele led the way with three hits, including a triple. Ryan Given scattered seven hits for the win for the Cougars (6-9). Kyle Kenygard had a pair of singles for Morse (3-12).

Poland 11, York 1

POLAND – Sophomore second baseman Casey Ray scored the game-winning run as Poland sailed to an 11-1 victory over York in WMC baseball action Friday.

Senior center fielder Joe Douglass had an outstanding game with a two-run double in the second and a two-run home run in the third inning for the Knights (13-1).

Nick Mercurio spoiled the shutout with a solo shot over the left-field fence for the Wildcats (6-9) in the loss.

Brunswick 5, Leavitt 4

BRUNSWICK – Dylan Chandler plated the tying run in the seventh to force extra innings before Brunswick received a wild pitch gift in the eighth for a 5-4 victory over Leavitt.

Nick Guerrette was standing at third and prepared for a suicide squeeze when pitcher Tim Doyle released one over the head of the catcher, allowing Guerrette to score the game-winning run for the Dragons (9-6).

Junior left fielder Matt Paladino smashed a three-run home run in the fifth inning to put the Hornets (2-13) up by one.

Oxford Hills 4, Cony 2

AUGUSTA – Senior pitcher Ben Goodall worked around several jams for the complete-game win as Oxford Hills nipped Cony 4-2 in KVAC baseball action Friday.

The Vikings (13-2) jumped out in front in the first inning behind a two-run double by junior first baseman Dan Millett.

Senior pitcher Corey Nason settled down after the third inning, giving up one walk, while striking out six in the hard-luck loss for the Rams (7-8).

Jay 20, Madison 0

MADISON – Nick Bourassa and Mike Holland had four hits each to lead Jay’s 18-hit parade in a 20-0 blanking of Madison.

Rocky Desanctis and Jamison Turner added three hits, and winning pitcher Shane Lefevbre added a pair for Jay (8-6). Turner belted a solo home run to lead off the second inning.

Pitchers Lefevbre and Ben Hebert combined for a one-hitter. Ezra Gourley had a double for the Bulldogs (1-13).

Dirigo 20, Mt. Abram 7

SALEM – Spencer Berry collected three hits, including a double and a triple, to pace the Dirigo hit parade in a 20-7 victory over Mt. Abram 20-7.

Matt Hutchins also had a three hits in the 16-hit attack. Berry took the victory for the Cougars (10-4). Pat Anthony had a pair of hits for the Roadrunners (2-11).

Monmouth 10, Livermore Falls 0

MONMOUTH – Mackenzie Tozier highlighted a six-run third with a two-out, two-run single to lead Monmouth to a five-inning, 10-0 triumph over Livermore Falls in boys’ baseball Friday.

Nate Armstrong (3-1) went the distance for the Mustangs (8-6), allowing two hits while walking none. Armstrong also added a pair of singles and two RBIs at the plate. Mike Lindholm had a double among his three hits for Monmouth.

Kevin Gats suffered the loss for the Andies (11-3).

Buckfield 15, Averill 2

HINCKLEY – Justin Woodcock had four hits and Dylan Emery added a pair of doubles to lead Buckfield to a 15-2 rout of Averill.

Tyler Weymouth and Emery combined to hold the Bears to one hit in the five-inning contest. John Condon also added a double and a single for the Bucks (8-5).

Georges Valley 7, Telstar 5

THOMASTON – Georges Valley scored four times in the first inning and added two more in the second to give the Buccaneers all the runs they would need as they held on for a 7-5 triumph over Telstar.

Nick Lemieux had a single and a double, while Elisha Sprague added a pair of RBIs to pace the Buccaneers (7-8). Brandon Caron hit a solo home run in the third. Telstar scored singles runs in each of the last three innings to close the gap, but it wasn’t enough.

Phil Bertocci got his first win of the season, scattering seven hits while striking out four. Max Meader had a single, a double and two RBIs for the Rebels (7-8).
