Education association honors Auburn retirees
AUBURN – The Auburn Education Association held its annual retirement tea on May 2 in the Park Avenue Methodist Church dining room. The event was catered by former association member Gladys Champion, assisted by Shelly Mogul. The room was decorated with spring roses.
A buffet and social time was held before the formal program. President Tim Wegmann addressed the group and reminded them that people have effect on the children long after the facilities close.
After his address, members of the association spoke for each honoree. They recounted humorous anecdotes and extolled them for their professional contributions to education.
The speakers included Gladys Chapman and June Simard for Pam MacDonald, Lynn Prescott and Tim Wegmann for Bill Reilly, Patti DeFilipp for Nancy Burgess, Judy Gowell for Lynn Derderian, Mako O’Connell for Susan Smith, and Joyce Pollard and Laurie Marcotte for Christopher Smith.
Wegmann gave each retiree a clock on behalf of the association to thank them for their years of service to Auburn education.
Unable to attend but also retiring are Richard Osgood, Charles Berry, James Lee, Louise Reynolds and Eleanor Taylor.
The total number of years of service by the retirees is 335.
