WATERVILLE – Whitney Mills belted two hits and had three RBIs as Telstar earned the 2007 MVC Championship with a 12-3 victory over Georges Valley.

Julia Stambolis and Megan Smith chipped in for the Rebels with two hits and two RBIs apiece. Joselyn Belanger also contributed with a pair of hits. The Buccaneers were paced by Desiree Smith and Danielle Leavitt with two hits each.

Oxford Hills 8, Gardiner 1

PARIS – Pitchers Jen Jurczak and Sam Dolloff combined to shut down Gardiner as Oxford Hills rolled to a 8-1 victory in KVAC softball action Tuesday.

Emmylou Blake led the Vikings (13-3) with a pair of hits. Oxford Hills erupted for seven runs in the third inning, ignited by an RBI triple from Deanna Emery.

Courtney Allen went the distance for Gardiner.

Madison 5, Mt. Abram 3

SALEM – Morgan Cummings smacked an RBI triple, and then scored on an error as Madison topped Mt. Abram 5-3 in softball action Tuesday.

Ashley Marandola recorded the win for the Bulldogs (13-3).

Logahn Walker pitched a solid game for Mt. Abram (10-5), striking out nine batters. Kenni Norton hit an RBI double, while Jillian Withee had a triple in the loss.

St. Dom’s 15, Traip 0

KITTERY – Monique Schafer hurled a no-hitter in her first varsity outing as St. Dom’s powered to a 15-0 victory over Traip in a WMC softball tilt.

Mary Lewis led the Saints (9-4) with two hits and three RBIs, while catcher Kelsey Murphy belted two hits with two RBIs.

St. Dom’s posted four runs in the first and kept their offense in overdrive throughout the game.

G-NG 3, Wells 2 (8 inn.)

GRAY – Brittany Humphrey belted a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Gray-New Gloucester to a 3-2 victory over Wells.

Humphrey led the Patriots (10-6) with two hits, while Laura Getchell gave up five hits to notch the mound win.

Bri Cilley led Wells with two hits and one RBI.

Lake Region 4, Poland 1

POLAND – Jesse Hutchins scattered eight hits and fanned seven batters as Lake Region slipped past Poland to post a 4-1 triumph Tuesday afternoon.

The only earned run by the Lakers (11-4) came on an Andi Mitchell single that scored Chelsea Myers. Myers and Amy Tragert each had a pair of hits.

Kristen Simpson took the loss, but struck out eight batters. Kaci Rae Ford hit a double and came home on a single by Courtney Gray to record the lone run for the Knights (6-9).

MCI 1, Oak Hill 0

PITTSFIELD – Mandy Kennedy hit a blooper to right that allowed Lydia Fortin to score the game’s only run in the seventh inning to lift MCI to a 1-0 victory over Oak Hill.

Fortin went 2-for-3, including the triple to right field to get on base before scoring the game-winning run. Jordan Kennedy went the distance, striking out 12 batters to preserve the shutout for MCI (10-6).

Angie Russell had a strong outing for the Raiders (8-8), giving up four hits, walking one, and striking out eight in the loss.

Lacrosse

Morse 9, Oxford Hills 6

PARIS – Deanne Sprague and Maggie Smith combined for four goals as Morse downed Oxford Hills 9-6.

Trailing 4-3 at the half, the Shipbuilders came back with six goals behind stellar goaltending from Sarah Roullad. Lauren Brett and Hannah Strauss each netted a pair of goals for the Vikings (3-7).
