Broncos receiver David Kircus will not be cut over allegations he threw a punch that landed a man in the hospital with multiple facial fractures.Coach Mike Shanahan said that Kircus passed a lie detector test administered by an expert and will remain with the team regardless of the legal outcome of his case. Safe to say the Broncos will have first dibs if and when Pacman Jones, Tank Johnson and Michael Vick get cut.

Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol in Carlsbad, Calif.

Numbers game

The web site Baseball Prospectus is predicting that the most likely date for Barry Bonds to hit his record-breaking home run on June 29. The web site played out the rest of the Giants’ season 1 million times on a computer to determine the date. One interesting side note, the computer also predicted Lindsay Lohan will leave rehab again on June 2.

Flushing hypocrisy

Mets reliever Guillermo Mota returned from his 50-game suspension for testing positive for performance enhancing substances during their series agains the San Francisco Giants at Shea Stadium. Mets fans huddled outside Shea before last night’s game to come up with excuses for cheering Mota and booing Barry Bonds.
