CUMBERLAND – The Greely softball squad capitalized on a late-game error to edge Poland 2-1 in a WMC softball finale Wednesday.

Isabelle Pisini led the Rangers (11-5) with two hits, while Jenna Valente belted a solo home run in the first inning. Krissy Taplin earned her 11th victory of 2007 on the hill for Greely.

The Knights (6-10) were paced by Kaci Rae Ford with two hits and one RBI, while Kristen Simpson tallied two hits.

Lacrosse

Oxford Hills 17, EL 9

SOUTH PARIS – Meredith Viera netted a game-high five goals to lead Oxford Hills to a 17-9 victory over Edward Little in a late-season girls’ lacrosse matchup Wednesday.

Hannah Strauss, Hillary Aube and Lauren Brett chipped in for the Vikings (4-7) with two goals each. Single tallies from Jessica Smith, Hayley Gilman and Heather Knights completed the scoring. AJ Jutras made 22 saves in net to notch the win.

The Eddies were paced by Kirsten Prue with five goals, while Breanna Wing added two. Joanna Hughes turned aside 10 shots in net for Edward Little.
