WEST PARIS – The White Sox remained unbeaten a third game in the Central Maine Men’s Senior Baseball League Sunday with an 11-9 victory over West Paris.

The Sox trailed 9-5 after 6 innings but rallied nicely. Jay Russell drilled an RBI hit in the 7th. Dan Coleman, Mike Brennan and Jim Wacenske all drove in a run in the 8th. Another run crossed on a fielder’s choice to put the Sox ahead 10-9. They added an insurance run in the 9th on a Wacenske hit. Brennan sparked the offense with 3 hits, including 2 doubles. Other repeat hitters were Steve Labossiere, Sean Cheetham, Coleman, Wacenske and Russell. Coleman gained the pitching win, hurling the last 3 innings. For the Westies, Kyle Kennison and Rick Whitney both cracked 2 hits Mike McBride suffered the loss. The White Sox will host the Topsham Knights Sunday at 9 a.m. at Auburn Suburban LL.

Red Sox Win

In another league contest, the Augusta Red Sox got strong pitching from Torey Carr and Jim Morris in trimming the Kennebec Indians 11-2 at Maranacook High School. That duo struck out 14 batters and yielded just 3 hits. Bob Cochran was the big stick with 3 hits, including a double, and 3 RBI. Eric Palleschi contributed a double and single, knocked in 2 runs and scored twice. Other repeat hitters for the Sox were Kevin Morissette and Carr. The Indians tallied their runs in the last of the 6th. Shane Benedict walked and went to third on a 2-bagger by Justin Holmes. Benedict scored on a fielder’s choice and Holmes crossed on a hit by Tim Spry.The Red Sox are now 2-0 and the Indians 0-2. The Sox travel to Wiscasset High School next Sunday to face the Litchfield Dodgers at 9 a.m. The Indians are idle.
