SCARBOROUGH – The Maine Association of USA Track and Field will hold its championship and Region 1 qualifying meet for ages 10 and under, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18 on Saturday, June 16, at Scarborough High School.

The meet starts at 10 a.m. A triathlon, pentathlon, heptathlon and decathlon will begin at 9 a.m., with the second day of the heptathlon and decathlon beginning at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

Individuals must be Maine USATF registered and can be obtained at the meet for $14. Entry fee for the meet is $5 for their first event and $4 for each additional event. Registration will begin one hour before the meet.

Entry forms can be downloaded at www.meusatf.org or www.sub5.com. All entrants must bring a copy of their birth certificate or other document showing proof of their date of birth. Athletes who are 18 through July 29 are eligible.

The top six individuals and relay clubs will qualify for the Region 1 meet in Long Island N.Y. on June 29-July 1. Registration for the Region 1 meet must be completed at the Scarborough meet.

All-star games set

PORTLAND – The second annual Maine vs. New Hampshire senior all-star baseball game will take place June 18th at noon at Hadlock Field.

New Hampshire won the 2006 game, 19-9.

The fourth annual Maine underclass all-star game will also be played June 18 at Hadlock at 4 p.m. This game features the best underclassmen from the East region vs. the best from the West.

On June 22, the Maine senior game will be played at St. Joseph’s College. Before the game, the winner of Mr. Baseball (the John Winkin Award) will be announced.

Players are selected initially from conference all-star teams and final selections are done by comittees consisting of selected coaches from the East and from the West.
