I like to read, at home and in school. In my reading and English class, I am learning about the atrocities happening today in Sudan. I read the newspaper, but there has been little mention of Darfur in the past month.
That conflict started in 2003 and, according to a site on the Web, more than 400,000 black Sudanese have died. More than 2.5 million are in refugee camps. That’s more people than live in Maine.
There is a peacekeeping group called the African Union that is trying to help in Darfur, but can’t do it alone.
Those refugees need help. The Sun Journal could help by printing stories about the situation there, to educate the community here.
