SOUTH PARIS – Bessey Motors pounded out seven hits and benefitted from six Andy Valley errors on its way to a 9-0 win in American Legion baseball action Thursday.

Ryan Yates and Russ Estes each had a triple and Matt Verrier blasted a home run for Bessey (2-1), which has rebounded with two consecutive shutouts after a season-opening loss to Northern Oxford.

Nick Letourneau earned the win on the mound, and Matt Rolfe had an RBI single.

New Auburn 6, Brunswick 4

AUBURN – New Auburn responded to Brunswick’s three-run second inning with one of its own Thursday, and held on for a 6-4 win at Pettengill Park.

After Devon Flynn was hit by a Josh Longley pitch, Adam Lutz and Kevin Smith followed with doubles. Brady Blackman brought everyone home with a triple one batter later to put NAL (2-0) ahead 5-3.

Blackman finished with a double and that triple, and Derek Doucette picked up the win on the hill.

Billy Simmons smacked a pair of base hits for Brunswick (0-2).

Gayton 7, Smith-Tobey 5

LEWISTON – Five different batter swatted at least two hits to lead Gayton to a 7-5 win over visiting Smith-Tobey in American Legion baseball action Thursday at Franklin Pasture.

Eddie West earned the victory in his first start of the summer, and Kyle Neagle closed out the seventh to earn the save.

Danny Plummer paced Smith-Tobey with a two-run blast off West in the fourth inning. Steve Hall took the loss on the hill.
