LEWISTON – A surprise party was held on May 5 for Maurice and Claudette Nadeau of Lewiston on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. The party was held at the Carriage House and was hosted by their three children – their daughter, Sandra Garant and her husband, Norm, and their sons, Peter Nadeau and his wife, Deanna Nadeau, and Bruce Nadeau.

Mr. Nadeau, former owner of Moe’s Bike Shop, and the former Claudette Cyr, former Androscoggin Head Start teacher, were united in marriage on July 3, 1957 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Madawaska.

Their granddaughter, Sydney Nadeau, organized and charted on a large poster board easel the seating arrangement of the guests. A large family photo collage was also displayed.

Two other granddaughters, Jennifer Garant and her escort, Sam Scalia, and Jeena Garant and her escort, Nick Wilson, presented their grandparents with two small trees made up with 50 scratch tickets on each tree. Anniversary presents and money gifts were also presented.

Immediately following the toast, delivered by their son, Peter, dinner was served. The guests enjoyed dancing to the music of the ’50s and ’60s for the remainder of the evening.

Mr. Nadeau’s 11 siblings and their spouses were all present, except for one of his sisters who couldn’t make it. Mrs. Nadeau’s family members were also present, including lifetime friends and relatives.
