AUGUSTA – Sandy and John Conrad, formerly of Winthrop, now residing in Fort Myers, Fla., and Joyce and Jim Dionne of Winthrop, are delighted to announce the engagement of their daughter, Laurie Dionne, to Jesse H. Babcock III, son of the late Betty Jane Hallman of Pennsgrove, N.J., and Jesse H. Babcock Jr. of Corning, N.Y.

The future bride is a 1995 graduate of Winthrop High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in theater from the University of Maine at Orono in 1999 and is currently working on her thesis to finish her master’s degree in theater at Hunter College in Manhattan.

The future bridegroom is a 1992 graduate of Pennsville Memorial High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in health and human services from the University of Maine at Augusta in 2000 and his MSW degree from the University of Southern Maine in 2003. He currently works as a clinical coordinator for KidsPeace in Manchester.

The couple met in 1998 when they both worked at the Augusta Sears and rekindled their relationship in 2006 after they found each other through MySpace.com. The couple will exchange vows in October at the Theater at Monmouth, followed by a reception at the Elks Lodge. They will honeymoon in Europe and reside in Augusta.
