INDIANAPOLIS – University of Maine freshman Lauren Forgues of Boothbay captured the 10,000-meter racewalk Sunday at the U.S. Junior Championships.

Forgues was timed in 51 minutes, 49.96 seconds, finishing two minutes ahead of second place Le’erin Voss of Wisconsin. Forgues will compete in Brazil in the Junior Pan American Games in July.

Her brother Matthew Forgues walked a personal best to win the bronze medal in the junior men’s 10,000 racewalk at the U.S. National Championships with a time of 51:00.55.

Skowhegan’s Grant Bacon, competing in his first 10,000 walk, placed sixth.
