LEWISTON – The Class of 1957 of CMG (now Central Maine Medical Center) School of Nursing held a 50th Reunion on May 1 at CMMC. The 18 members of the class exchanged professional and personal life stories, and a letter of memories of a deceased class member and class president, Sylvia Fitzsimmons, was written and read by Glennice Ludden Poisson.

A memory book, “Remember When,” was prepared by Ruth Ward Abbott containing memorabilia of the events in their lives during nursing school. Nancy Kay Bell presented each classmate with a unique centerpiece and Marie Michaud Powers presented Abbott with a silver-engraved computer mouse to thank her for all her work in organizing the reunion.

The classmates were given an update on the current nursing program by Sharon Kuhrt, director of the school of nursing, and Sue Baltrus, associate director of the school. The former students then took a tour of the hospital facilities, noting the tremendous changes since they graduated in ’57.

The CMG-CMMC Alumni Association invited the Class of 1957 to be honored guests at the graduation banquet for the graduating Class of 2007 held at the Ramada Inn on May 2.
