LEWISTON – Hammond Lumber successfully defended its championship in the South Lewiston Little League Major Division by defeating Gendron’s 2-1. It was a fine pitchers’ duel between Hammond’s Andrew Gosselin (fanned 13) and Gendron’s Cody Mousseau (3 hits, 5 K’s). Gendron’s lone run came on a homer by Cam Marquis in the second. Hammond plated a run in the first (Isaiah Harris hit) and in the third (Devon Beland hit).

Coach Paul Beland would like to congratulate his Hammond team, and Eric Tiner’s Gendron’s club for a fine championship game.

Elliot beats Auburn

LEWISTON – Elliot Little League’s Major Division All-Stars edged Auburn Suburban 5-4 Friday at South Lewiston in District competition. Jake Bergeron cracked 2 hits, reaching base 4 times and scoring the winning run on Sam Morin’s walk-off double.

Brian Wigant hurled 6 1/3 innings, striking out 8 and allowing 4 hits and walking only 1. Morin, who had 2 hits, pitched 2/3 of an inning, allowing a hit and fanning 2 for the win.

For ASLL, Desmond Gagne went 3-3, including a homer over the center field fence. Nate Blais and Gagne pitched well for Auburn.

Luke Cote enjoyed a 3-3 night and scored 3 runs.

Elliot’s next District game is Friday, July 6 at 5:30 at New Auburn.
