BROWNFIELD – Officers from the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office and Maine State Police troopers located three stolen guns on Monday afternoon.

Police were called into the woods off Spring Street after a complaint that shots were being fired. Along with a K-9 unit from the State Police, they recovered three guns and an electric guitar.

One of the weapons, a .30-06-caliber rifle, was loaded. The others were unloaded.

The guns and guitar were among property stolen from a Pig Street residence in June. The owner identified them after being called to the scene.

“Both the state police and the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office are happy that the weapons are off the streets and in safe hands,” said Cpl. Brian T. Landis, one of the officers to respond to the scene.

The case remains under investigation.
