Two bass tournaments will take place later this summer.

The Maine B.A.S.S,. Federation Nation ( will be hosting its annual Junior Bassmaster State Championship July 22 on Norway Lake. The event will take place out of the state launch beginning at 10 a.m. Weigh-in is set for 3 p.m.

The fishing event is open only to members of Junior Bassmasters chapters affiliated with Maine B.A.S.S. Federation Nation.

There will be two age divisions, 11-14 and 15-18. Winners will be eligible for the 2008 Junior Bassmaster World Championship to be held Feb. 22-24 in Greenville, S.C.

Androscoggin River

Androscoggin Bassmasters will be conducting an open bass tournament on the Androscoggin River’s Gulf Island Pond at Turner, August 19 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All functions will take place at the Center Bridge Road State Launch. Alll boats should be in the water by the registration deadline of 7 a.m.

Registration is open to anyone that meets the reequirements of the tourney. Entry fee is $125 per 2-person teams. There will also be a $10 optional lunker fee per boat with a 100 percent payback. Over $7,000 in prizes are up for grabs. There is a 7 fish limit. More information is available by contacting John Volkernick at 562-9255, or visit the club online at

USA Bassin ( will have a second tournament option as well to fish its Maine Trail.

Cost is $50 per team and $25 per individual to become a member of USA Bassin.
