Two bass tournaments will take place later this summer.

The Maine B.A.S.S,. Federation Nation (mebass.com) will be hosting its annual Junior Bassmaster State Championship July 22 on Norway Lake. The event will take place out of the state launch beginning at 10 a.m. Weigh-in is set for 3 p.m.

The fishing event is open only to members of Junior Bassmasters chapters affiliated with Maine B.A.S.S. Federation Nation.

There will be two age divisions, 11-14 and 15-18. Winners will be eligible for the 2008 Junior Bassmaster World Championship to be held Feb. 22-24 in Greenville, S.C.

Androscoggin River

Androscoggin Bassmasters will be conducting an open bass tournament on the Androscoggin River’s Gulf Island Pond at Turner, August 19 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All functions will take place at the Center Bridge Road State Launch. Alll boats should be in the water by the registration deadline of 7 a.m.

Registration is open to anyone that meets the reequirements of the tourney. Entry fee is $125 per 2-person teams. There will also be a $10 optional lunker fee per boat with a 100 percent payback. Over $7,000 in prizes are up for grabs. There is a 7 fish limit. More information is available by contacting John Volkernick at 562-9255, or visit the club online at androscogginbassmasters.com.

USA Bassin (usabassin.com) will have a second tournament option as well to fish its Maine Trail.

Cost is $50 per team and $25 per individual to become a member of USA Bassin.
