FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Midfielder Andy Dorman’s sixth goal of the season helped the New England Revolution salvage a 1-1 tie with Chivas USA on Saturday.

New England converted just its second corner kick in 61 chances, when midfielder Steve Ralston sent the ball into the box from the right side – setting up Dorman’s right-footed shot in the 64th minute.

Chivas went ahead 1-0 four minutes into the match when Claudio Suarez converted a corner kick.

New England failed to capitalize on numerous scoring chances, including Ralston’s eight corner kicks. Taylor Twellman’s header was denied on a one-handed save by Chivas goalie Preston Burpo in the 59th minute and Patrick Noonan had a point-blank header stopped in the 83rd minute.

Crew 2, Real Salt Lake 0

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Guillermo Barros Schelotto scored on a penalty kick and the Columbus Crew extended their unbeaten streak to six games with a 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday night.

Eddie Gaven added a goal in the 80th minute to give Columbus (5-4-7) four wins and two ties in its past six games.

Salt Lake (1-7-6) remains at the bottom of the Western Conference with a league-worst nine points.

Referee Alex Prus awarded the penalty kick after Salt Lake defender Ritchie Kotschau brought down Andy Herron inside the penalty area as Herron tried to fight his way toward the goal in the 75th minute.

Schelotto knocked the penalty kick past Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando for his second goal of the season.

Gaven made it 2-0 when he redirected a crossing pass from Alejandro Moreno for his second goal of the year.

Rimando made an athletic save to deny Moreno’s spinning strike from the edge of the penalty area in the 32nd minute.

The Salt Lake goalkeeper again denied Moreno three minutes later, when Schelotto carried the ball up the left side of the field and flipped a left-footed pass to Moreno for a shot on goal.

Salt Lake forward Alecko Eskandarian was red-carded in second-half stoppage time after he clipped Schelotto’s legs from behind.

Salt Lake midfielder Carey Talley got a yellow card for rough play in the seventh minute.
