FARMINGTON – Twenty-five Franklin Community Health Network employees from various departments and medical practices recently completed an in-depth, 16-week Certified Professional Coder class in preparation of the CPC certification exam. The American Academy of Professional Coders grants the CPC certification.

Medical coders translate clinical data from patient health records and assign appropriate medical codes. Their work is submitted to insurance companies for payment purposes, and may be used for data collection, billing and quality improvement purposes.

Nancy Adams, Hope Bell, Contessia Boulay, Diane Breton, Leigh Brown, Brandi Chase, Darcie Ciarcia, Cindy Coulombe, Nancy Corson, Terry Cote, Karen Cowan, Tom Dean, Mavis Dubord, Kim Greenleaf, Wendy Hall, Marian Hastings, Gina Hobert, Elise Holland, Vicki Howard, Melissa Meader, Krystal Mitchell, Sharon Myrick, Dawn Pratt, Cheryl Sillanpaa and Sandra Swett successfully completed the class.

To become certified, class participants must demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology and coding rules and regulations by successfully passing a 150-question, 5-hour examination.
