The lengthy trip north on the Maine Turnpike was worth every minute recently to golfers Joe Kane and Eddie Harrison.

Kane, of Sanford, recorded the first hole-in-one of his golf career Friday on the 152-yard No. 11 at Martindale Country Club in Auburn. He unearthed the gem with an 8-iron. John Masters and Tony Bussiere witnessed the feat.

Massachusetts golfer Harrison carded his ace on the 182-yard eighth hole at Fairlawn Golf Course in Poland. Harrison used a 7-wood as Bill Sharkey, Doug Anderson and Dave Hanley looked on.
