GARDINER – Brendan Pelletier struck out nine batters over five innings and belted two doubles and a triple to lead Auburn Suburban Little League’s 11-year-old all-stars to a 12-11 win over Dirigo Little League in the opening round of the District 5 playoffs.

Elijah Moreshead also ripped two doubles and a triple for ASLL, which advanced for meet Gardiner in the next round. Brandon Dubuc added two hits.

Pelletier scattered three hits on the mound. Brooks Layman also contributed to the mound effort for Auburn Suburban.

Cody Beaucage, Jay Gartley and Jessie Stacey each slapped two hits for Dirigo. Nick Hamel pitched well in the losing cause.

South Lewiston 6, Augusta 2

Cody Mousseau backed up his complete-game pitching performance with three hits, helping South Lewiston stay unbeaten in tournament play with a 6-2 win over Augusta.

Willy Desmarais added two hits. Other hitters were Devon Beland, Alec Collins and Andrew Gosselin.

South Lewiston meets Gardiner on Thursday at New Auburn.
