AUBURN – Traffic will be stopped for up to 25 minutes at a time on the South Main Street bridge as crews work on repairs today and Thursday.
Stoppages will occur from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. to allow contractors to place bridge beams at Mile 77.6 of the Maine Turnpike.
Motorists who travel on this stretch should be prepared for delays or seek alternate routes.
The bridge was damaged in January when it was struck by a tractor-trailer hauling an excavator. Turnpike engineers discovered damage to the steel bridge beam, which was dented in the wreck and developed a crack.
