OXFORD – American Legion Post 112 decided to start a motorcycle chapter that would operate within the Legion to provide an atmosphere where post, auxiliary and Sons of American Legion who share enthusiasm for motorcycles could come together.

The first meeting of the group will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at the Anderson/Staples Post 112, King St..

American Legion Riders membership requirements include being a current member of the American Legion, Auxiliary or Sons of the American Legion; own a motorcycle of at least 350cc engine displacement; possess a valid driver’s license; and/or be the legal spouse of a member.

The purpose of the chapter is to participate in parades and other ceremonies that are in keeping with the aims of the American Legion; to promote motorcycle safety programs and to provide a social atmosphere for American Legion members who share the same interest; and to use the association to promote and support programs of the American Legion through service to the community, state and nation.
