MONTICELLO (AP) – State Police were investigating the death of a 37-year-old man whose body was found inside his brother’s trailer Thursday following a standoff with police.

Trooper Jimmy Saucier was called to the residence at about 3 a.m. following a report of a domestic disturbance. But when he opened the front door, Saucier was confronted with a shotgun pointed at his face and was forced to flee.

When police then called the residence, they were told by Neal McEachern that he had stabbed his brother, Dwaine, who later escaped and was treated for stab wounds.

At 1 p.m. Thursday, a police tactical unit entered the trailer, where they found McEachern’s body. The circumstances of his death were not released.

McEachern had been released Wednesday from the Aroostook County Jail, where he had been held after being charged with aggravated assault.
