LEWISTON – Bertrand J. Emond, 89, of Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion,and formerly of 34 First St., died Saturday, July 14, shortly after arrival at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, with his family by his side.

Born in Lewiston Dec. 29, 1917, the son of John and Clara Martel Emond, he was educated in Lewiston schools.

He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and worked for Flock Buick as a salesman for 21 years prior to his retirement in 1981.

He was a member of Holy Cross Parish, Holy Cross Senior Citizen and Knights of Columbus Council No. 106 Lewiston.

He enjoyed playing and listening to music and had a passion for cars.

He loved his family and going for Sunday rides.

He will be remembered for his generous, kind and joyful spirit.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Jeanne Cote of Lewiston, whom he married Jan. 27, 1941; two daughters, Claire Gamache of Lewiston, and Doris Lazarski and her husband, Ron, of Apple Valley, Minn.; his grandchildren, Sherri and Raymond Frounfelter, Julie and Mark Lawrence, Joe and Wendy Gamache, and Theresa Gamache; his great-grandchildren, Jacob, Caitlin, Maxwell, Wyatt, Ryan, Cassandra and Dylan; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Voteur and husband, Donald, of Eddington.
