LEWISTON – William E. Redmun Sr., 82, of Danville, died Saturday, July 14, at Central Maine Medical Center with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Auburn on May 19, 1925, the son of Ernest and Myra (Cates) Redmun.

He attended Edward Little High School, and went on to serve his country proudly in the U.S. Army.

He worked for Eastern Refractories as a truck driver for 40 years and retired in 1987.

He was also a volunteer firefighter for the Danville Fire Department from 1962 to 1984. He was a little league coach for Auburn Suburban Little League for 10 years, coaching Cummings Cleaners. Bill was an avid golfer and bowler, and was a member of the Holy Family Golf League at Prospect Golf Course and Holy Family Bowling League with Auburn Lanes.

He was also a member and past president of the First Auburn Senior Citizens.

He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, and was always wanting to help with various projects. He would do anything for a pint of frozen custard.

He was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved attending their various sporting events and dance recitals.

In his spare time, he loved to play beano, watch the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and the Atlanta Braves. He particularly loved watching cowboy movies.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn, of Danville; his daughter, Sharon Albiston and her husband, Charles, of Auburn; three sons, William Jr. and his companion, Lise Beaudry, of Auburn, Brian and his wife, Dale, of Lewiston, and Scott and his companion, Kim Youland, of Turner; two sisters, Evelyn Veazie of Auburn, and Muriel Mulkern of North Windham; 10 grandchildren, Carolyn Perkins and her husband, Tom, of Turner, Jeff Morin of Lewiston, William Redmun III and his wife, Stacy, of Litchfield, Amy Pelchat and her husband, Ben, of Oxford, Nicole Hess and her husband, Zack, of Scarborough, Marci Tomasacci and her husband, Jason, of Newburn, N.C., Jodi Redmun of Turner, Kylea Hunt and her husband, Steven, of Auburn, Scott Redmun II of Turner, and Stephen Pessant of Auburn; nine great-grandchildren, Michaela, Austin, Emily, Maeghan, Sarah, Zoe, Jayme, Ethan and Jason; and his beloved cat, Lady.

He was predeceased by his parents; four brothers, Lawrence, Harold, Earl and Alfred; two sisters, Madolyn “Tootie” Collins, and Lois Hamblin; one grandson, Randall Redmun; and his dog, Lazy.
