POLAND – Kyle Mullins and Tyler Merchant drove in two runs apiece as Gilman Electric doubled up Smith-Tobey 10-5 in American Legion baseball action Tuesday.

Kyle Mullins, who came on in relief of starter Brent Cary in the second inning, struck out eight and allowed one run to earn the win for Gilman Electric (13-5).

Smith-Tobey jumped out to a 4-0 lead entering the third inning, but could not overcome a nine-error performance in the field. Nick Cloutier led the way for Smith-Tobey (7-11) with a pair of hits.

Gray 15, Gayton 3

LEWISTON – Six different hitters smacked two hits apiece as Gray clobbered Gayton, 15-2, in Zone III play.

Nate Johnson, Zach Cantar, Josh Sundquist, Pete Clement, Artie Winship and Lucas Chase all had multi-hit games for Gray. Chase clubbed a double and a triple. Clement fanned 10 batters in five innings for Gray (13-3).

Eddie West led Gayton (7-9) with two hits, including a double.

Monmouth 10, Gardiner 4

GARDINER – David Ricker drove in three runs, including a pair with a triple, to lead Monmouth to a 10-4 triumph over Gardiner.

Starting pitcher Josh Jillson struck out seven in four innings, tallied three hits and knocked in two runs. Travis Harwood came on in the fifth with the score tied 4-4, struck out four and gave up no runs to earn the win.

Wally Rines knocked in two runs on two hits for Monmouth (18-0).

Josh Phelps paced Gardiner (14-5) with two hits.
