AUBURN – Brady Blackman belted a pair of home runs, including a three-run shot in the sixth inning that broke the game open, to lead New Auburn to an 8-2 victory over Gray in a game between the top two teams in Zone III Legion.

The game ended after six innings due to darkness.

With both teams suffering four losses and separated by a half game, New Auburn now owns the tiebreaker should the two teams finished in a tie.

A quirk in the schedule left Wednesday’s contest as the only time the two teams play in the regular season.

New Auburn (12-4) scored single ruins in the first three innings – including a solo blast by Blackman in the third – to open a 3-0 lead. But Gray fought back for a pair of runs in the fifth, including a solo home run by Nick Derice.

Blackman (5-0) pitched a four-hitter and struck out four to earn the victory.

Artie Winship (3-2) took the loss. Adam Lutz, Kevin Smith, Kyle Bussiere and Blackman all had two hits for New Auburn.
