LISBON FALLS – People with diabetes will have a chance to learn how to prepare good-tasting, healthy foods at a workshop, “Diabetes; Food and You,” offered by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, Diabetes.

The workshop will focus on providing meals for the person with or at risk for type 2 diabetes. It will include selecting foods for the person with diabetes, understanding carbohydrates, preparing good-tasting, healthy foods, and understanding portions. Participants will also have an opportunity to sample healthy foods for a light lunch.

The workshop will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at the Androscoggin-Sagadahoc Extension Office, 24 Main St.

Wendy Legg Pollock, Extension educator, will lead the session. The cost is $10 a person, with an additional $6 for another person from the same family. Scholarships are available.
