HARDWICK, Vt. (AP) – In a July 22 story about a new group working on dairy policy, The Associated Press erroneously described the purpose of a proposed levy of 10 cents per hundred pounds of milk on farmers.

The funds would be used to buy and slaughter cows to regulate milk supplies, and to promote the sale of dairy products into new markets.

The levy would not be returned to farmers when wholesale milk prices drop below a certain, predetermined level.
